About KARNATIC ACADEMY
Karnatic Academy, a music school founded by Smt. Sudha Srinivasan, disciple of Padmashri Dr. Gayathri Sankaran.
Our academy offers lessons in Carnatic Vocal and Veena lessons. Karnatic Academy has a holistic approach to music. The students are taught to not only sing, but also to appreciate and understand the culture heritage, and significance of the songs. The one-of-a-kind training also include students to be trained in Voice Culture and Music Theory.
Classes are offered for students in Plano, Frisco,
McKinney and Allen in Texas. Online Skype lessons are also available.
About the Faculty
Smt. Sudha Srinivasan
Sudha Srinivasan is a highly accomplished musician with a Master's in Carnatic Vocal from the prestigious University of Madras. Her musical journey began at the young age of five when her aunt, Arutpa Arasi Guruvayur Ponnammal, introduced her to formal vocal training. Sudha's uncle, Kalaimani Mridangam Maestro Sri Guruvayur Dorai, also encouraged her to learn Veena along with vocal lessons. She received her Veena training from her Gurus, Smt. Nirmala Parthasarathy and Smt. Ranganayaki Rajagopalan, and has also received training in classical Hindustani music under Pandit Krishnanand Ji. Sudha has showcased her exceptional skills at various sabhas in Chennai and Andhra Pradesh. Her expertise also includes voice training, voice culture, and opera, which she learned from the renowned Mr. James Vanderpost.
